It is important for future beauty service industry participants to understand the difference between an occupational and a business license. An occupational license is required for a professional that performs services that are regulated by state government authority, typically a state board. A business license is required for all individuals/companies doing business within a specific jusrisdiction. A business license may be required by state, city, and/or county/local government authorities. It is important for you to contact all state, city, and county/local governments to ensure you are in compliance.
